basement.

After what feels like a few months of construction, our basement is finally done! We got the carpeting put in yesterday and the room is ready for business.

We wanted to have a place for Ben to run around and throw his toys all over the place - someplace out of the way so we could attempt to keep the upstairs neater. When Ben came downstairs yesterday for the first time, he was running and jumping back and forth, up and down the length of the room. It's great because it's about 50 feet long, and so there's lots of room (for now, until we put the furniture in) for him to run laps.

After we brought his toys down, he had fun dumping his blocks all over the place. Our next job is to find some good storage for his stuff.


Another view. Notice Sophie the pug asleep on her bed. Last night we left her down here alone and even turned off the light. It took her awhile before she decided to come upstairs to join us. I think she likes the peace and quiet after Ben's gone to bed.
